Spicer Tiles was established in 1989, soon after the mini hurricane that occurred in the South of England a few months earlier. A small, but expanding family company formed by usJane and Andrew Spicer to produce genuine handmade peg tiles and fittings. As all of our products are genuinely handmade, we can readily manufacture special shapes and colours to suit a particular job. Hand manufacture ensures that each Spicer Tile is individual, and bears the subtle variations of size, colour and texture of tiles that have been made in the same traditional way since the Middle Ages. Using the finest natural materials, the earthy colours are impregnated into the clay before it is hand pressed into hard wood moulds; the surplus struck off with an ash bow.Knocked out to dry, the peg holes are made with a wooden stick.
